More Than Enough
1 Corinthians 15:19 “And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.”
Many of us think and say that God is all we need. We say, “God is everything to me. God is my all in all.” But the truth is, you really don’t know that God is all you need until God is all you have. Let me say that again. You really don’t know that God is all you need until God is all you have. When you look around and the only person you know you have is God, then you begin to experience God. And you will realize that God is all you needed all along. God is all you have ever needed. But you don’t know that God is all you need until you get to that place where God is actually all you have. If you still have this uncle, you can call when you encounter a challenge. Or you can call your parents, spouse, cousin., sibling, friend…
Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that you need to eradicate all those people. But when you get to a place where you know that those people really cannot help you, the only person you have is God. Then you will begin to see that God is actually more than enough for you. When you get to that place where there is no emotional support, no financial support, no relational support, then you know you have divine support. Psalm 50:23 “But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honours me…”. So, when you are in that situation, regardless of what it is, you are able to say, “Thank You”. Your stronghold of gratitude is built on the understanding of The Grace That God Has Shown You, The Plans He Has For You, and His Promise Never To Leave You. Understanding that even in all things, The Changes He Is Making In You Are Glorious Ones.
The fifth thing that fuels building a stronghold of gratitude is The Home He Has Prepared For You. John 14:2-3 “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” (NIV). It is a horrible thing to be a child of God and all you dream and imagine is here on earth. You ought to desire heaven because Jesus has gone to prepare a place for you. When you realize this, you are grateful regardless of what you are facing on earth. You are grateful that there is more to life than here and now. You are grateful that the mess of the world is not the end of the story. You are grateful that there is eternity with God. I’m grateful that it’s not just here on earth that everything ends. If it does, then we are, all men, most miserable.
Prayer: Father, I am grateful for the grace You have shown me, Your plans for me, Your promise to be with me, the changes You are making in me, and eternity with You, in Jesus Name. Amen!
