Reset

Ephesians 4:23-24 “to take a fresh breath and to let God renew your attitude and spirit. Then you are ready to put on your new self, modelled after the very likeness of God: truthful, righteous, and holy.” (The Voice)

God’s Word to us this season is Reboot. Yes, we have recorded victories this year and this month, praise God for that. In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, your victories will increase in this month and beyond. Some of us have recovered some losses this year. In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, you will overtake and recover all. You will not be stranded. You will not be defeated in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

From the pop culture standpoint, what this generation can relate to is the word ‘reset’. When a mother says, “I need to reset that child”, you know what that means. And in that context, I have seen resetting do amazing things for children. For instance, there was a child who was being very erratic, talking to her mother very rudely. Her aunties were trying to get her to stop talking to her mother like that, but she did not listen. Interestingly, her mother did not say a word. The girl kept going on and on, her aunties kept cautioning her, and her mother kept inching closer and closer and boom! Reset! It was like magic; the same girl became extremely well-behaved. This is why it is called resetting – absolute resetting, right before my eyes.

The concept of rebooting comes from the computer age, where you use a system, and you have to reboot it. In 1999, I was on the IT support team of a global company in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, for about a year. It was on a large campus with many office buildings, and we were supporting the entire network of computers. When we get calls in IT support, we try to resolve the issues with first-level support. However, most people usually don’t want first-level support. First-level support is when the issue is resolved on the phone. Now, if you have done any kind of IT support, you will agree that the number one complaint is “I can’t print”. I can write a book on ‘I can’t print’. Often times, all you need to say to them is “reboot”, and that is all that is required to resolve the problem. However, in some cases, it is the printer that needs rebooting.

Sometimes, both the computer and the printer need rebooting. Some people will insist on second-level support, which involves you physically going to their office. And after walking all the way to their office, all you do is reboot the computer. And the person says, “Oh, was that all I needed to do?” “Yes, that was what I was trying to tell you on the phone, to reboot your system.” Rebooting does “wonders”. Rebooting increases performance, saves power, and optimizes the system. The question is, what areas of your life do you need a reboot?

Prayer: Father, help me identify what needs rebooting this season, in Jesus Name. Amen!
