The Truth About Favour
‘A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity’ Prov.17:17 [NIV]
The reality of favour is that favour attracts attacks. ‘A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity’ Prov.17:17 [NIV]. Joseph’s bothers that were born for adversity hated him. Meaning Joseph was practically hopeless. Many times we wonder that if it is true we are favoured, then how come we are struggling here and there? The truth is that sometimes it is really because you are favoured that is why you are struggling. Look at Job; he was just on his own minding his own business when God said to satan, ‘have you considered my servant Job?’ And that was the beginning of Job’s problems. Look at Mary the mother of Jesus; the angel said to her, ‘you are highly favoured amongst women’. And that was the beginning of her problems. I am sure you are wondering what I mean by problems. Well, premarital pregnancy for one. If she were in our community today, will anyone believe her story? That was the beginning of her problem. Then when she was about to give birth, there was a census. They had to run helter skelter even though Mary was heavily pregnant. They got to their hometown but there was no room in any hotel. She had to give birth to the baby in a manger. The most powerful king at that time wanted to kill her son so they ran from country to country. Then she had the ultimate punishment any parent can have; she saw her son crucified, yet she was highly favoured! You will experience unparalleled favour this year and so shall it be in Jesus Name. But you need to know the truth about favour so you can be prepared and find comfort. You need to understand that you must never envy people that are favoured; rather, celebrate them. If somebody is favoured in their business and it begins to prosper, the natural canal tendency is to be jealous and to challenge God based on what we feel are the requirements to merit that favour. We challenge God because we believe we too have met the requirements. When you see someone that is favoured what you should do is celebrate him or her even if your flesh struggles, just do it! Do it deliberately because you attract what you celebrate. If you celebrate favour, eventually you will attract favour.
Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to completely accept Your favour, in Jesus Name.
