My Story

The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you’ Gen.12:1

My spiritual father, late Pastor Eskor, asked us to start a church barely a year after I had left paid employment and we obeyed. Through out the period we served in that church, we were happy not to collect any salary. I had a business and I felt my money should be used for the Kingdom and not the other way round. Then one day God asked me to leave my business and focus on His work. And I brought my needs before God – my family, bills, and everything I needed money for. I said, “if it will please You Lord, I still don’t want to collect any salary from the church”. He said, “You won’t collect any salary from the church. I will sustain you”. I accepted God’s promise and told my wife who had left also paid employment at the time. By God’s grace because of how God has dealt with us and how we have grown together, all my wife asked was “are you sure about this thing?’ I looked her eyeball-to-eyeball with all the sincerity I could muster and said, “as sure as I know my name”. We didn’t tell anyone, not even the people that work closest to me. God said He would sustain us right? So no need to discuss it so that we won’t be confused about who is sustaining us. About a year into the journey, we got a call from close friend. He said “I think God is saying that you should leave your business and focus on the ministry for this season”. And I began to laugh. He asked why I was laughing; he expected that I would be sober. I told him God had told me a year before and I had obeyed God. Then he said “so why do I feel this urgency in my spirit to tell you this?” I said it is because of my wife. Even though she was with me, she still thought I had gone a little bit crazy. Another friend saw the software I was developing just for fun and offered to get me a six-figure job in the U.K. A job that will allow me all the flexibility I wanted. My response was “I am not doing business because I don’t have options. I am not doing it because He has said”. I don’t know who this message is for but if God has called you into ministry, God will sustain you in ministry. When God calls, He provides. After a while God said, “I have taught you a lesson, know your priorities”. The lesson is, if business comes or if it doesn’t come for you the first thing is the ministry. Again I don’t know who this is for but for you it is ministry, it is the call.

Prayer [song]: Show me your way that I may walk with you. Show me your way I put my trust in you. The cry of my heart is to love you Lord, to live with the touch of your hand. Stronger each day, show me your way. Amen!
