Enough!
“For in Christ there is all of God in a human body; so you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power” Col.2:9-10 [TLB]
Jesus is enough! What does the word enough mean? The dictionary defines enough to mean: adequate for a want or need. Enough means to be sufficient for a purpose or to satisfy the desire. Enough can be interchanged with sufficient because sufficient also means adequate for a purpose or enough. These words might be interchanged as we go on, so please take note. Jesus is sufficient; Jesus is enough. It’s very important from time to time that we focus again on all that is bound up in Christ and our sufficiency in Him.
How and in what is Christ sufficient? Let us first look at the how. “So you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power” Col.2:10 [TLB, emphasis added]. To have Jesus is to have everything you need. You may say, who is debating that? The truth is we live in a world that is constantly telling us that we need something additional from it. Sadly, some people have believed this lie and it is our prayer that God will deliver them and those that are about to believe it. We once knew a lady in church, a Christian, who was trusting God for different things in her life. She was trusting God for a life partner and to heal her father and she was praying. But the option came for her and the family to send money to a witch doctor to make a sacrifice for her father’s health. And she came to say that she was not going but wanted to know if it is acceptable to send money. That is an anomaly because it should not be so. She is in Christ; Christ is enough for her. The power of Christ in her is enough to heal her father, enough to sort out the problems in her life. That is an example of how the world is hitting us with the lie of the devil that we do not have enough. That we need to add something to what God has given us.
Look at Adam and Eve in the Bible; they were dwelling in the Presence of God. They had the honour of being the first man and woman created by God. But the devil came to Eve, just as he comes to many today, and says you still need to add something to what you have. You have the Presence of God, the power of God, the life of God, the blessings of God, but it’s not enough. You still need to add something extra. The devil takes what God has given us that is perfect and complete and exchanges it for something totally insignificant. He took paradise from her; he took the Presence and the close intimate fellowship of God, and gave her an apple. The devil has been selling this same lie from eternity; we will not be deceived, as we will realize the total sufficiency of Christ in our lives in Jesus Name.
Prayer [Song]: Jesus, I believe You’re my healer. I believe You are all I need. I believe Lord. I believe You’re my portion, I believe You’re more than enough for me, Jesus You’re all I need.
