The Door
‘And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven’ Matt.16:19a.
A door symbolizes access on one hand and control on the other hand. If God wants you to open a door, it is safe to assume you have the keys to the door. In actual fact, God will not ask you to open a door that He has not first given you the keys to. God says ‘And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in Heaven’ Matt.16:19 [NLT]. The keys to access and control situations has been given to us by God’s grace. However, having access and accepting access are two different things; same as control. To enter through the door God has placed before us, we must be willing to exit certain things and enter into the ‘unknown’. A door is usually a point of transition from one room to another room; a point of entry and exit. There are certain things in your life that you have the key to change but your unwillingness is a hindrance. You have the keys to open and shut the door; God is not going to come and do it for you. You have to be willing to let go of some things in your life. Opening and walking through a door implies you have to walk away and shut the other door. You have the key to success in your academics but you need to shut the door to laziness and start reading. You have the key to purity but you need to shut the door on pornography. Jesus is that door; through Him you have access and control. ‘Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me’ John 14:6. You must be willing to go through the door in order to enter into rest, increase, fruitfulness, abundance and the Kingdom. Even in the dark, you can always make out the door. Do not sit in that dark, you need to get up, reach out and God will grant you access.
Prayer: Father, I accept the gift of the Door that You have placed before me and I enter into my wealthy place, into rest, greatness and fruitfulness. I also shut the door to darkness. Amen
