Better Or Worse?
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” 1Pet.2:9 [emphasis added].
Sometimes when God challenges us, it just does not make any logical sense. We have had to make certain sacrifices that were down right difficult. Think about the sacrifices you made, has your life been better or worse for it? Think about it. This is because nobody trades with God, as my grandmother says, and comes up short – not one person! So God is saying to you and I, give Me your Isaac. Will you give God Isaac?
The key to sustaining an altar is the Priesthood. Every believer has a triple calling upon his or her life. As believers, we are Prophets, we are Kings, and we are Priests. “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” 1Pet.2:9 [emphasis added]. God is saying you are a royal priesthood because you are a king that brings royalty to your priesthood. In Revelations 1:6, God said He has appointed us kings and priests. So you are prophet, you are a king, and you are a priest. It is the priesthood, your priesthood as a believer that sustains your altar. And the priesthood is dispassionately, routine based. I am praying you get this, because if you do, your life will change totally. Your priestly duties sometimes will look mundane and boring but they embed the power to keep your altar going. The priest is like a nurse; the prophet is like a doctor. The doctor diagnoses, the prophet diagnoses then prescribes, and then the nurse cleans the wound, and puts a bandage on it. Does the nurse have to feel good to clean the wound? What if the nurse woke up on the wrong side of the bed? What does he or she still need to do? Clean the wound, put a bandage on it, and give the patient the necessary injection where and when required. Just the same routine – patients come, patients go. And as priests, to sustain our altars before God, we have to understand that the priesthood is so very routine that it can be boring. But the fact that it is boring does not make it impotent. The fact that you do not feel good does not make it of no value. I hope you are getting this. It is the priesthood that provides consistency because a priest sustains every altar. Negative or positive, every altar is sustained by a priest. So it is not enough to do the right thing, you have to do the right thing for long enough. “And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be put out. And the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order on it…” Lev.6:12 [emphasis added]
Prayer: I speak to my heart, you will not grow weary; I speak to my hands, you will not grow tired; I speak to my knees, you will not be feeble, in Jesus Name.
