“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends” Rev.3:20

You need to shut the door at negative influences. Some of us just need to shut the door at gossip. Gossip is a negative influence. The story comes to you and it has a way of burning on your insides until you speak it out. It is as if fire is in your bosom, have you heard? Did you know? So you pass it on from one person to another. But the Bible says “The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the bellyProv.26:22 [KJV].A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matterProv.11:13 [KJV]. “Do not spread slanderous gossip among your people…” Lev.19:16. When you allow yourself to be a talebearer as the Bible calls it, you will be carrying distorted information. We do not do gossip. You need to shut the door to gossip.

However, there are things in our lives that we need to open the door to. We need to open our doors to God. The Bible says “submit yourself to God”, that comes first. That comes before resisting the devil. If you do not open your door to God and you want to resist the devil you will know the devil is not a fool. You have to submit yourself to God first. “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends” Rev.3:20. Jesus is knocking on different hearts today. For some of us we may never have surrendered to Jesus at any point in time. For some people you had opened the door to Jesus but you have shut Him out. You need to open the door again for Him to come in.

The second thing we need to open our doors and hearts to is answered prayers. Sometimes, we have prayed and God has answered the prayers but we shut the door at the answered prayers. You probably are wondering if that is possible right? Yes it is and I can even show you in scripture. Read Acts 12:1-18. It is the story of Peter when he was in prison and the Bible says the church prayed for Peter and God answered the prayer. The answer to the prayers was at the door knocking, Rhoda went to tell them that the answer had arrived, guess what they said to her. You are crazy. And guess what they did, they continued to pray. Sometimes you need to stop praying and just open the door. There are people that are believing God for life partners whereas all you need to do is open that door.

Prayer: Father, today in the name of Jesus I shut the door to satan and I open my doors to You and so shall it be, in Jesus Name.
