Womb Of Adversity
‘God replied to Moses, I Am Who I Am. Say this to the people of Israel: I Am has sent me to you’. Ex.3:14
When you examine the revelations of God throughout Scripture, a lot of these revelations were birthed in the womb of adversity. Every Christian encounters adversity at one point or the other of his or her walk with God. Even the prophets of old experienced adversity and this birthed in them a new and deeper revelation of God. You might think you know God as the Resurrection and the Life but wait until you witness Him bring a loved one back to life or turn around a situation that had been written off completely then you will experience Him as the Resurrection and the Life. No man can teach you about God like God can teach you about Himself.
“Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord” Deut.8:3. Adversity arises for various reasons; adversity could come as a result of our own choices, as a result of choices made ahead of us, and in some cases as a result of situations God allows. ‘When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up’ Ps.27:10. Experiencing the picking up of God requires the people that are closest to you, people that you are supposed to depend on, and people that are naturally responsible for you abandoning you. Ask Abraham. Job after nine months of intense adversity said, ‘I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee’ Job 42:5. Adversity moves you from theoretical – head knowledge into revelation – experiential knowledge. A lot of Christians are not willing to go through the adversity, they just want the revelation. I am sorry but it comes in a single package. ‘But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head’ Ps.3:3. David wrote several Psalms about God being his shield, his rock, and his refuge but you must understand that these testimonies were borne in the womb of adversity where he experienced God showing up for him. God will show up for you. When you see people who seem to have an unusual revelation of God, check their lives they have been through some adversity. God wants to use what you are currently going through as a springboard to a higher level of revelation with Him. Regardless of how terrible the situation is, a revelation is about to burst forth.
Prayer [Hymn]: All to Jesus I surrender; All to Him I freely give; I will ever love and trust Him, In His presence daily live. I surrender all, I surrender all; All to Thee, my blessed Savior, I surrender all. Amen!
