Righteousness, Peace, & Joy!

“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost” Rom.14:17

Watch out for Anger, Hope Deferred, Greed, and Anxiety because they can put you out of tune.

#5. Life. The fifth thing that detunes us is actually life. We get out of tune by reason of use. Life just happens. You set your course at the beginning of the year but as days go by, life happens. A lot of people have New Year resolutions. In fact, some have started resenting New Year resolutions. New Year resolutions are neither here nor there for me. But people do not pause and course correct, realign and retune. God is saying to us today, re-tune.

Re-tune to what? How do we know the tuned frequency? How do we know that perfect pitch that we are looking for? If you are tuning a radio and you do not know the station you are looking for, you can easily go past it and still be looking for the station. So what is the tuned state of a child of God, the desired frequency, and the pitch perfect tune? The tuned state of a child of God is Joy. And this joy is accompanied by peace and righteousness.

Everything life throws at you is to take you out of that place of joy in God. This joy has nothing to do with what is or is not happening around you. It is the joy that passes all understanding. You may be going through a horrible time but you still have joy. You may be going through a pleasant time but you still have joy. But how do you know it is the right joy? It comes with peace and righteousness. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost” Rom.14:17.

We must learn to consistently re-tune our lives to that pitch perfect tune of the Kingdom – joy. If you check your life and you are out of tune with joy, you need to re-tune. You will agree that a lot of things that are thrown at you today are thrown at you to displace your joy. Think about it? Anger steals your joy and detunes you. Hope deferred drains your joy until there is none left and you are out of tune with God. Greed chokes joy. And anxiety attacks every trace of joy you have. I pray that God will preserve your joy, in Jesus Name.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, I ask that You will keep me tuned and bursting with joy, joy that is able to purge me of anger, greed, anxiety, and sustain hope and life, in Jesus Name
