Love Works III

“Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”  1 Cor. 13:7 [emphasis added]

You will be shocked at the number of divorce cases that happen because no one had the courage to say there was a problem or because everyone decided to avoid confrontation. “…we can trust God to do what He promised” Heb.10:23 [NCV]. There is only so much that you can do in your strength. Do not kill yourself. Confront the elephant in the room. I know it is going to make you uncomfortable but it is inevitable. It is obvious that there is no other way because what you have been doing has not worked. So why not just do what the Word of God says and see it work.

Turn us around and bring us back to You again! That is our only hope! Give us back the joys we used to have!” Lam.5:21 [TLB]. For some of us, our starting point is our relationship with God. The joys we used to have with God are gone because of an elephant in the room of our lives.  There is something that you are doing that is causing a wedge between you and God but you have refused to face it. You have refused to bring it forward and it is draining your joy. There is no going forward until you confront it and until you address it. Similarly, in our earthly relationships, there is no going forward until you confront lingering issues. But today, you will go forward, in Jesus Name. To thrive in real life relationships, thank God for your differences, go to God with your disappointments, trust God with your feelings.

#4. ASK GOD FOR HIS DIRECTION: “If you need wisdom — if you want to know what God wants you to do — ask Him, and He will gladly tell you.  He will not resent your asking.  But when you ask Him, be sure that you really expect Him to answer” James 1:6 [emphasis added]. Ask God for direction in your relationship with your in-laws, for direction in your job, for direction with issues concerning your teenage child, or with marriage related decision. Ask God and He says He will gladly tell you. However, the condition to asking is when you ask, be sure that you really expect Him to answer. Many times we do not want to hear what God has to say. When you ask God, be ready to do what He says.

Prayer: Father, in every area where I have strayed from Your heart, turn me back to You and give me direction concerning my relationships, in Jesus Name.
