It’s Your Choice
He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. Psalm 103:7
‘The LORD said to Moses, Get going, you and the people you brought up from the land of Egypt. Go up to the land I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I told them, ‘I will give this land to your descendants. And I will send an angel before you… Go up to this land that flows with milk and honey. But I will not travel among you…’ Ex.33: 1-3. Regarding the people of Israel as well as to you and I today, God said and is saying it is a choice. It is a choice to be with or without Him. It is a choice between to have the land flowing with milk and honey or to have the presence of God. It is a choice between the promise and the One who promised. It is a choice between the byproduct of His hand and His face. It is a choice between the gift and the giver. From the days of Abraham’s obedience, God had made a promise to give the land flowing with milk and honey to his descendants. However, the continuous complaining of the descendants of Abraham caused God to put before them a choice. Have you made it a habit to say things that if God were really to come down and dwell with you, He will surely destroy you? Moses could have settled for the byproduct of God’s hand – a land flowing with milk and honey, angelic escort, houses that they did not built, vine yards that they did not plant. He could have danced around testifying as we see some Christians do today. While testifying is a wonderful thing, ensure that it is not just the miraculous you are after. ‘Then Moses said, If you don’t personally go with us, don’t make us leave this place… For your presence among us sets your people and me apart from all other people on the earth’ Ex.33:15-16. Do you want God’s blessings without God’s presence? Let Moses’ response challenge your thinking and your actions henceforth.
Prayer: Father, keep me in Your presence always. Lord, may Your presence with me set me apart from all other people on earth, in Jesus name
