Hear His Voice

Mark 5:36 “But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.” (emphasis added).

This season, Jesus’ direct Words to us are Don’t Be Afraid, Just Have Faith. Please read Mark 5:21-43, it is our anchor scripture for the season. Hanging out with Jesus must have been frustrating for the disciples sometimes. Read the rest of this entry

The Assurance

Isa.46:3 (NKJV) “…Who have been upheld by Me from birth, Who have been carried from the womb: 4 Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

I play a lot of sports and by God’s grace, I play them really well. However, one sport I have struggled to do is swimming and at some point, I wanted to give some focus to swimming. Read the rest of this entry

Act!!!

Rom.8:13 “For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live” [with emphasis]

To overcome temptation, the second thing you need to do is to take action. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit, not in your strength, not in your flesh.

Do It Quickly

Eph.4:26-27 (GN) “If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin; and do not stay angry all day.  Don’t give the devil a chance.”

The fifth way to deal with difficult people is Resolve The Conflict Quickly. The question is, should a Christian ever get angry? Did Jesus ever get angry? Yes, Jesus did but that is not a license to be short fused. Inevitably, sometimes we get angry but God’s Word says, Eph.4:27 (Philips) “Never go to bed angry!” Read the rest of this entry

Pay Attention

Deut.11:22 “Be careful to obey all these commands I am giving you. Show love to the Lord your God by walking in his ways and holding tightly to him.”

In yesterday’s devotional, our closing thought was that for you to step up, you have to Listen Up! However, there are two things inherent in listening up. The first thing is for us to pay attention [be attentive] to His voice. Read the rest of this entry

Look – Listen Up!

Rev.4:1 Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this”.

We will continue to focus on the four things necessary for stepping up spiritually outlined in Revelations 4:1. Read the rest of this entry

You Can!

Knowing IX

Prov.22:17–19 [TLB, emphasis added] “Listen to this wise advice; follow it closely, for it will do you good, and you can pass it on to others…”

When God wants to take you into a new experience with Him, what do you do? I would say the only response is to follow Him. And this is the beauty of relationship; the more you spend time with God, the more He reveals Himself to you. Has God not been beautiful beyond description even before you and I were formed? But as you spend time with Him, as you experience Him and tarry in His Presence, these things become real to you. Then you become better equipped to pick out His voice even amidst a crowd.

Voice Authentication

1 John 4:1 [LB]Don’t believe everything you hear just because someone says it is a message from God; test it first to see if it really is!”

Today, we will take off from a thought we touched on yesterday and that is, that there are three sources of voices that exist. The first source is God. Scripture points out in Job 33:14 For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.” I pray that you will always recognize God, in Jesus Name.  The second source is Yourself. Unfortunately, people talk to themselves and say God has spoken to them. No, dear brother or sister; you are the one talking to yourself. I talk to myself, I say “why did you do that?”
