Recall

1 Samuel 17:36-37 “I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!”

You cannot afford to have the memory of a goldfish in your walk with God. God has a track record of faithfulness and that is what David was saying. “He is the same God who through me took down the lion and the bear. This same God will take down this Goliath too.” David was not reminding God of who He is, He was reminding himself of who God is. When you are faced with incredible odds stacked against you, you have to remind yourself about who God is. This God is on your side. You are not starting from ground zero, perplexed and wondering. You are saying the God of my fathers, the God of my grandmother, the God of my mother.

Exodus 3:6I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob…”. God is a generational God, He is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Isaac did not start from ground zero. Jacob (Israel) did not start from ground zero. They could call on the God of their spiritual heritage. “Are you not?” Remind yourself who God is, and what He has done for you. Chronicle the things God has done for you, for your fathers. Have your own Book of Chronicles where you document what happened, and what God did. Before you are done reading through and reminding yourself, you are ready.

The second question Jehoshaphat asked is, “Did You not?” Remind yourself what God has done. This is similar to “Are you not”, but it focuses on what God has done. “Are you not” focuses on who God is. 2 Chronicles 20:7Our God, did You not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend?” (NIV, emphasis added). When you combine, “Are You not” and “Did You not?”, you have elevated your consciousness and you are in that place where you can believe God for the impossible.

And the third question Jehoshaphat asked is, “Will You not?” Jehoshaphat said to God, “Do it again!” 2 Chronicles 20:12Our God, will You not judge them?” (NIV, emphasis added). Will You not do it again? You did it when you parted the Red Sea. You did it when the inhabitants of Canaan were driven out for Your people. Will You not do it again? And God will do it again! You healed in the past, will You not do it again? When you engage God like Jehoshaphat did, you are going to turn the tide in your favour. And that is the way to pray for a miracle.

Prayer: Father, You are the God of my father Abraham, Isaac and Jacob so I am confident that You have turned the tide in my favour for Your Name sake, in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen!
