Cornerstones of Leadership
Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave Matt.20:26-27
The cornerstones of leadership are the cornerstones of excellence applied. Jesus said, whoever must be a leader must first of all be a servant. A great leader must be competent, sacrificial and devoted.
Competence: David acquired the skills he needed to rule a nation while he Read the rest of this entry
According to His purpose
‘The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ… and God has put each part just where He wants it. In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary’ 1Cor.12:18b, 22.
For a lot of people, it is not news that God has a part for us all to play in His big picture. The above scripture points out to us that even though we are part of one body, we have different and unique roles. Every one of us is fruit with seed in itself and God expects us to bear fruit. In God’s Favourite House, we say Read the rest of this entry
Unite and Cleave!
‘Therefore, a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall become united and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh’. Genesis 2:24 [AMP]
Marriage is one of the institutions that cannot be entered into without commitment. If you are an adult female/male, every relationship with the opposite sex must be clearly defined. If it isn’t defined one party will lose out. Define the feelings, make it formal or let it go. You are never mature enough for Read the rest of this entry
Following Jesus
‘Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in Me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing… I have loved you even as My Father has loved Me. Remain in My love. When you obey My commandments, you remain in My love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in His love’. John 15:5,9 &10
There is a huge difference between going to Church and following Jesus. The fact that we are visible in Church and regularly attend meetings does not mean we are following Jesus. Serving in Church also is no guarantee we are following Jesus. Following Jesus means ‘remaining’ in Him; a choice to remain. Read the rest of this entry
How will you respond to Jesus?
‘Look I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends’. Rev.3:20 [NLT]
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. His promises are guaranteed. However, our response determines our feedback. In the above scripture for example, the Lord guarantees that He will stand at the door and knock and He will share a meal with you as a friend. But in between the first and the last Read the rest of this entry
Hungry?
‘Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness’. 1Peter 2:2-3 [NLT]
The key to a deeper relationship with God, better understanding of the Word, accelerated spiritual growth, a full experience of salvation and eternal glory is Hunger. Hunger is a very strong emotion capable of disconnecting the mind from everything and refocusing it on what the body interprets to be food at Read the rest of this entry
Flush Out Offense
But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matt.6:15
A certain servant had received forgiveness from his master for what he owed but he was unwilling to forgive his colleague who owed him much less. Even though he had verbally said thank you to his master, he harbored ingratitude in his heart. Ingratitude is at the root of offense in many cases. Many of us are Read the rest of this entry
Familiarity with God
Peter exclaimed, ‘Lord, it’s wonderful for us to be here! If You want, I’ll make three shelters as memorials – one for You, one for Moses and one for Elijah’. Matt.17:4
Familiarity they say breeds contempt. Never, ever, ever get too familiar with God or with His Word. All that you have and will ever have are gifts from God alone [John 3:17]. God is our Father, He calls us friend, nothing can separate us from His love, and He wants to talk to us. However, He is the Lord of the angel Read the rest of this entry
Our Duty
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:Yet Iwill rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. Hab.3:17-18
The verse above mirrors ‘Dutiful Thanksgiving’. Giving thanks to God in spite of your feelings, experiences, or what people say because He is altogether good. It is recognizing that God is Supreme and it is in His character to be good. It is acknowledging that even though our walls are crashing down, God has not Read the rest of this entry
Thanksgiving
It is a goodthing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name,O most High. Psalm 92:1
Thanksgiving is very crucial for every Christian. In God’s Favourite House we are very big on thanksgiving and dedicate the 1st Sunday in every month to thanking God. Pleasurable thanksgiving is gratitude offered to God in the face of a long awaited breakthrough. This kind of thanksgiving seems effortless but Read the rest of this entry
