At best you may get some mercy drops but there will be no assurance of the delivery of God’s promises for you. If God is not on your side, accusation will stand against you. You will be written off or wiped away by the storms eventually. You need to guarantee God on your side. Two ways of guaranteeing God on your side are – Accept Christ and Follow Him. Accepting Jesus is dethroning yourself and enthroning Him. Accepting Jesus is a choice to let go of your independence. ‘This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!’ 2 Cor.5:17. It’s a choice to forsake the old and hold on to the new life in Jesus Christ. You cannot claim to have accepted Jesus Christ and you are still heading in a different direction from Him. ‘No one can serve two masters. You cannot serve both God and…’ [yourself] Matthew 6:24. If you are still running your own agenda, you are missing out on God being on your side. ‘So why do you keep calling me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?’ Luke 6:46. God sees your heart, paying lip service is deceiving yourself. You have to follow Jesus. Following Jesus is a choice to live a life of sacrifice. ‘Then he said to the crowd, If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me’ Luke 9:23.
