Most times, when we face challenges, our hearts cry is that God will do all the heavy lifting while we just sit back and enjoy the ride. But God’s Word to us is fight! Fight? How can God be saying fight in the first week of the New Year? What does He mean when He says fight and does He really want me to fight? What and how am I supposed to fight? How do I engage in fighting?

The word fight is the same as the French word combat. Combatants are the foot soldiers that engage in close proximity conflict. Combat or fighting is defined as a purposeful violent conflict meant to weaken, establish dominance over, or destroy the opposition, or to drive the opposition away from a location where it is not wanted or needed. Take note of the three words highlighted in this definition. Combat or fighting has to be purposeful, violent, and there would be conflict.

I have discovered that a lot of people do not like the idea of conflict and as such are not comfortable with the notion of violence. How can violence even be the subject of a devotional? Can’t everyone just get along, can’t we just live and let live? Even if people choose to live like that, you need to know that the enemy does not want you to live. His objective is to steal, to kill, and to destroy. I know that there are people, Christians, that prefer to be gentle rather than violent. Some people are naturally gentle. Yet, regardless of your personal preference, the truth is that there are aspects of your life that you cannot gain access to except you fight. There are things that will continue to elude you until you put your foot down, roll your sleeves, and fight.

You cannot take delivery of your great destiny in God without a fight! A lot of destinies are laying in waste because people are not engaging [fighting]. In God’s Favourite House, our vision is to be filled with the life of Christ Jesus and released into our destinies, taking the world for Him. Being released into our destinies is a big part of our assignment as a church. However, you cannot take delivery of your destiny without a fight because there are ‘enemies’ of your soul. When we say enemies, we are not referring to people. We know that the enemy uses people because he cannot operate on earth without people. However, I want you to see it for what it is; there is an enemy of your soul. There are anti-destiny enemies, forces that are set-up to prevent people from taking ownership of their destinies. You cannot take delivery until you fight. You have to fight!

Prayer: Father, I ask that You train my hands for war and teach my fingers to battle so that I can wage a good warfare with Your prophetic words for me, in Jesus Name.
