In this story of Daniel and his friends, it turned out good. Some people would say, what about the disciples of Jesus? Even though they died horrible deaths for the testimony of Christ and His resurrection, I would say it turned out good because they are with God and there is no better “good” than that. As someone says, it is not unscriptural to be challenged but it is unscriptural to be defeated. Even in the case of our Lord Jesus Christ, even though He was challenged, and they killed Him. But He resurrected after three days, meaning He was not defeated.

The level we need to be as Christians is, “We do not look at the things that are seen but at the things that are not seen because the things that are seen are temporal and the things that are not seen are eternal”. Your conclusion on whether it turns out well or not depends on where you are looking at. If you are looking at the physical world, here and now, you may have a mixed bag of some turn out good and some did not turn out good. But if you are looking at eternity it always always always turns out good! This is why Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego could make that statement that, “We want you to know that we are not saying we will not bow because God will save us. He is God even if He chooses not to save us, He is still God” [paraphrased]. That is where you and I need to get to, a place where regardless of what you are trusting God for, you are able to say to God, “Whatever the outcome, you have one hundred percent of my loyalty!”

Do you want to know why? It is because in your walk with God, God will bring you to this place repeatedly, the place of His Sovereign will. Many years ago, I said to the Lord, “Concerning this thing we are even praying for, I want to assure You today and I want you to write it in heaven, even if You do not give me a child, I will still worship you!” Even though I had said that to God, I still gave it my all. Whether He answers or not will not determine whether I pay the full price, or whether I circumvent His assignment for my life, I left that to Him. Christianity is not about having a Father that grants all our wishes. God has a plan, we are so small in His plan, we should be humble enough to see that and to summit to His overall plan. Everyone that takes that position, none of them goes back ashamed – not one! Today, God has blessed me with a child, praise God!

Prayer [song]: I’m coming back to the heart of worship, it’s all about you, it’s all about you Jesus.
