Yet at night their commitment to the sheep remained as solid as it was in the morning. They could have abandoned the sheep at night and in the eyes of man they would have been justified. It was in the place of their commitment that they experienced the glory of God. Commitment is key. God expects us to be committed to the sheep He has placed in our care. Sheep could represent God’s people, your assignment, or that which God has put in your hands. Today God wants us to learn from the shepherds that it is in the place of solid commitment that we will experience His glory. The shepherds could have missed it if they were not committed. Nothing progresses without solid commitment. ‘Then the LORD came down in a cloud and stood there with him; and he called out his own name, Yahweh’ Ex. 34:5. It was in the place of commitment that Moses saw the glory of God [Ex.33 & 34]. Similarly, translating from single to married cannot happen without solid commitment. And even when you become married, that marriage cannot last without solid commitment. Moving from one level to the next academically cannot happen without solid commitment to studying. We grow through commitment. Spiritual growth requires commitment to the things of God. In as much as your relationship with God is between you and Him. Still God expects you to be committed to the body of Christ. When you are committed to someone, whatever is dear to that person automatically becomes priority to you. This is the attitude God expects from us when it comes to the flock. You cannot say you are committed to God and yet you are not accountable to anybody, or submit to any fellowship, or even serve in Church. You need to be committed to the flock to experience the glory of God. If the shepherd had not been committed to the flock, they would never have seen the glory of God. Commitment orchestrated their experiencing the glory.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, give me the grace to stay committed to You and the things You have put in my care.
