Gal. 5:22-23<\/sup> <\/a>\u201cBut the <\/i>Holy Spirit<\/i><\/b><\/span> produces this kind of <\/i>fruit<\/i><\/b><\/span> in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!\u201d (emphasis added).<\/i><\/p>\n

Note that Paul says, \u201cfruit\u201d singular which is different from \u201cfruits\u201d plural. When we looked at the gifts of the Holy Spirit, it was \u201cgifts\u201d plural [Word of Knowledge, Word of Wisdom, Prophesy, and so on]. But when Paul talks about the fruit of the Holy Spirit, it is \u201cfruit\u201d singular. This is huge! There are people that have been Christians for twenty years, but they do not understand these things, believe me. It is unbelievable, scary even. \u201cFruit\u201d singular; Gal. 5:22-23<\/sup><\/a> (KJV) \u201cBut the <\/i>fruit<\/i><\/b><\/span> of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law<\/i>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hence, for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, you can say you have certain gifts of the Holy Spirit. Depending on the office that God has called you into, you may have more revelational gifts, or more inspirational gifts, or more power gifts. But when it comes to the fruit<\/i> of the Holy Spirit, you get one, you get all; you have access to one, you have access to all. Therefore, it is so important that we understand that when we talk about the fruit, it is \u201cfruit<\/i>\u201d singular. The root word for the word \u2018fruit\u2019 in Galatians 5:22<\/a> in Greek is \u201cKarpos<\/i>\u201d. Karpos <\/i>refers to one fruit, not many fruits. In all the translations of the Bible, it is fruit<\/i>; in the Literal Translation it is \u201cfruit<\/i>\u201d, in the Interpreted Translations it is \u201cfruit<\/i>\u201d. Again, fruit<\/i> is singular. So, it is wrong to ask, which fruit<\/i> am I seeing growing in my life? You can ask, which gifts am I seeing in my life? It is wrong to ask which fruit \u2013 I have patience, but I do not have joy. I need to work on my long-suffering because while I have joy, I lose my fuse easily. That is the wrong way to look at it. Look at it this way, the fruit<\/i> is singular.<\/p>\n

To illustrate this, we have inserted two images that represent two ways to look at the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Note that either way is correct. If you look closely <\/span>Fig.1<\/span>, the cross-section of an orange, you will notice that it is one fruit with many<\/span><\/p>\n

compartments. One fruit with compartments <\/span>love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control<\/span>. Once you have the fruit, you have the fruit! People are struggling where they should be flowing. People are struggling where they should not be struggling, and it is because of ignorance. Once you have the fruit, you have the fruit – all the nine complete! Another way to look at the fruit of the Holy Spirit is <\/span>Fig.2<\/span>,<\/span> the grapes. Like in the diagram, the bunch is fruit – singular. When people engage you, it is the same fruit. When they pluck at you, they experience patience. Some situations may arise where what is required is love. People engage you and experience the same fruit. In other cases, it is peace or joy that manifests, but it is the same <\/span>fruit<\/span> of the Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/div>\n
