Depending on the season in a marriage, responsibilities within the home can be shuffled around. So you are a young couple and your wife has just landed a job that pays her a salary that is four times your combined salaries. And you want to know if it’s acceptable to be a stay at home dad to allow her focus and maintain stability within the home. It’s definitely something to think about but you need to also understand the way women are wired. It is easier to submit if the man is the provider and the protector. Some men have taken this same step and today things have not played out so well at the home front. Yes marriage is not about money but the Bible states that the man that does not provide for his home is worse than an infidel [1 Tim.5:8]. I know there are seasons where the man is unable to meet with his responsibilities because of some certain factors. This too shall pass. This is why you need to take God’s Word back to Him in prayer. Cry out to God and He will restore you in Jesus Name. Women are designed naturally to nurture. The man is not a nurturer. If you leave a man with your children, it doesn’t mean they are getting care. Yes he loves his children but can he nurture them as well as their mother can? In fact I will be shocked at a woman that is happy to leave the children with the husband always. Again men should be considerate. There are times you’ll need to step down and be hands on so that your wife can be who God has called her to be. There was a time in my marriage that I had to wash my wife’s clothes. I am not saying you have to wash clothes but there are areas you know you can help out, step in and help. It is for a season. As men we need to get over chauvinistic behavior and lend a hand. Women also need to focus on their homes. Your home is your primary responsibility [Titus 2:4]. Learn if you must, just as Scripture advices, because your home is your primary responsibility.

Prayer: Father, help my partner and I to be all that You have called us to be in our marriage.
