When it comes to the subject of abuse, a lot of people have many questions running through their heads. Questions ‘what do I do?’ ‘What are my options?’ ‘How do I respond to abuse?’. We are trusting that God will give you and I His own answer over the next few days, in Jesus Name.

Abuse is multifaceted. I discovered that there are so many sides to abuse. In the family setting, there are different types of abuses. Over the next few days we will be focusing on the different types of abuse between a husband and his wife. Plus how the abused can be free of abuse.

The first type of abuse between husband and wife is the sexual abuse. There are certain husbands that sexually abuse their wives. How can that be? Simple, there are some husbands that rape their wives. That is sexual abuse. There are some husbands that force their wives to do certain things that they are not comfortable doing on the marriage bed. That is an assault and it is sexual abuse. If your wife does not like a particular position, maybe she is not comfortable with it for this season of her life. A loving husband will wait but an abusive husband will insist and force her to do it. In some cases, the woman is crying but the man keeps insisting. That is an abuse and it will stop today in Jesus Name. To withhold sex from your spouse is also an abuse. You know that your spouse has sexual appetite and because there is something you want to achieve, you withhold sex from him/her. That is sexual abuse because the Bible is clear on what your expectations and your deliverables are as couples. ‘Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer…’ 1 Cor.7:5.

Prayer: Father, please give me the grace and wisdom to treat my wife/husband, as I should.
