It is Jesus who has come to you. It is Jesus, the Way Maker, and He is making a way for you. Remember that it was just evening when Jesus sent them off, and He stayed back to dismiss the crowd. But by this time, it was the fourth watch of the night.

We have also established in days past that how the day is calibrated for the Jew is evening and morning. For us who are Western-trained, it is morning and the evening. So, the Hebrew day is from sunset to sunset. The day actually begins for the Jew at sunset, in the evening at about six o’clock or whenever the sunsets. The inserted image is the Jewish day traditionally. Even though when the Romans came, there was a recalibration, but traditionally, this is it.

The Bible tells us that when it was sunset, Jesus sent them on their way, and now it was the fourth watch. The first watch, the beginning of the day, is 6 p.m. (sunset) to 9 p.m. The second watch is 9 p.m. to midnight. The third watch is midnight to 3 a.m. And the fourth watch is 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. (sunrise). So, Jesus sent them on their way at sunset (6:00 p.m.), and by the fourth watch they were still in the storm. That is nine to twelve hours of battle, not knowing whether they will survive. Guess what? It was supposed to take just a few hours, one or two hours, to get to where they were going. However, they spent nine to twelve hours in the storm.

I want us to look at the Jewish day in another way. I said this to myself, you may want to try it and see how productive you will become. Start your day at 6 p.m. Start tomorrow, Friday at 6 p.m., and see how productive you will become. This means you will need an Evening Strategy. Your evening strategy cannot be to sleep alone. You need a concrete evening strategy, and I am going to share from this passage of scripture beginning tomorrow.

Prayer: Father, please show me the way of escape from every prolonged storm in my life, in the Name of Jesus.
