Jeremiah 6:16<\/sup><\/a> \u201cThis is what the Lord says: \u201cStop<\/u><\/strong> at the crossroads and look<\/u><\/strong> around. Ask<\/u><\/strong> for the old, godly way, [the ancient paths,] and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls<\/u><\/strong>. But you reply, \u2018No, that\u2019s not the road we want!\u2019\u201d (NLT & NIV<\/a>, emphasis added).<\/em><\/p>\n

Beginning today, we will delve into three things from this passage of scripture that God wants us to focus on as we journey to restoration of soul. And we will be using the acronym S.A.W. The first thing that stands out to us from our focus scripture is S<\/u>TOP<\/strong>. Jeremiah 6:16\u00a0<\/strong><\/sup><\/a>\u201cThis is what the\u00a0Lord\u00a0says: \u201cStop<\/u><\/strong> at the crossroads and look.<\/em>..\u201d. Most times, when we get to crossroads, we are in a hurry, so we just want to make a quick decision. If you are consistently rushing through crossroads, through intersections, you are bound to have an accident. And that is the situation with many people’s lives, filled with accidents. Your life will not be filled with accidents in the Name of Jesus. However, God is saying STOP<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

It is interesting that, stopping at the crossroad, the concept of the stop sign that is popular in major countries was actually gotten from the Bible. The genius of the stop sign at an intersection is that if everybody stops and looks according to the scriptures, obeying the Word of God, there are usually no accidents. God is saying, when you find yourself at a crossroad, stop! Don’t rush! Don’t rush the decision at the crossroad situation, stop! Isaiah 30:15<\/sup> <\/a>\u201c\u2026In quietness and confidence is your strength<\/em>.\u201d Your strength is in quietness and confidence. The enemy wants to drag you to chaos, confusion, and the mud. But you must stay in quietness and confidence.<\/p>\n

Do you know people who seem not to have joy until they bring chaos into your life? It is as though that is their assignment in your life. When there is peace around you, it is as if it upsets them. God is saying, “In quietness and confidence is your strength”, so remain peaceful and confident in God. If you read on further in Isaiah 30<\/a>, the people to whom God was telling that in quietness and confidence is their strength, refused, they would not have it. If God is saying in quietness and confidence is your strength, and you will not have it, then you cannot blame God for the chaos in your life and the depression in your soul. You cannot blame God because you wilfully chose to disobey God and not to be aligned with Him.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls. But you reply, \u2018No, that\u2019s not the road we want<\/em>!\u2019\u201d As humans, we have a right to look God in the face and say no. But guess what? That is where the right ends. You don’t have the right to change all the storms that will come into your life after you say no. I pray that God will give you wisdom, you will borrow yourself some sense, and not say no to God\u2019s guidance on this path in which you will find rest for your soul.<\/p>\n
