How well you can handle the rejection of men determines how far you will go. Let me explain. Where was David’s mother while all this drama was going on? If the number one prophet requests that all your sons be brought before him and the father forgets, will the mother also forget? Where was David’s mother? One school of thought says David’s mother was an African woman that Jesse had an affair and that was why David’s skin was dark. It was also the reason why David was like an outcast in the family. Another school of thought says that David came from Jesse’s wife’s maid so there was still a question mark. Then the third school of thought says the wife in the house, the mother of Eliab, Abinadab, Shemia had an affair and brought David into the house. But whatever the scenario, David said, ‘Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me’ Ps.51:5 [KJV].Something was messed up from the beginning, David had a question mark, and that plagued him.

Please read the entire Psalm 69. In this Psalm, David was lamenting about how he was being treated by his own family. ‘Those who hate me without cause outnumber the hairs on my head.
Many enemies try to destroy me with lies, demanding that I give back what I didn’t steal’ Ps.69:4. When David comes back from the wilderness and something gets missing in the house, David gets accused. David lamented about not being able to stay peaceably with his brothers [Ps.69:8]. Some of us worry that we are ostracized, rejected, in the wilderness, and nobody wants to associate with us. That is not the end of your life. You are next in line with the same God that singled out David. David used the season of his obscurity to develop a solid relationship with God. David could have been bitter about all that was happening to him but he wasn’t. Instead David learnt to war in this same wilderness fighting the bear and the lion.

Prayer: Father, when I pass through the valley of the shadow of death, I will not be afraid because You are with me Father, in Jesus Name.

‘Then Samuel asked, “Are these all the sons you have?” “There is still the youngest,” Jesse replied. “But he’s out in the fields watching the sheep and goats.” “Send for him at once,” Samuel said. “We will not sit down to eat until he arrives’ 1Sam.16:11. How well can you handle rejection?
