Jesse was not a farmer. So the sheep and goats that David was sent out to care for were not his primary source of income. David was sent out to the wilderness to die [just like he sent Uriah to die in battle]. Perhaps not literally like that but they just wanted David out of the house. Yet David triumphed. You will triumph in the name of Jesus. David did not allow the disapproval kill him. Watch your heart. What you do in your days of obscurity determine the foundation of your significance. Everybody will go through a season of obscurity. Everybody that will be great will experience the pain of rejection. If you have a great future and you have not been rejected, just keep living. Everybody that will be great must experience that pain, its like it’s a companion of greatness. But David did one thing in obscurity that we can learn from. David kept loving God. “The glory and the lifter of my head”.

David was alone in the wilderness yet he did not grumble or complain. What if when the lion came to attack the herd, David allowed it to take a lamb? And then ran home to report that a lion had attacked the herd but he managed to escape. Is that not a good story? A good father should rub his head and affirm him right? Not David, instead he went head on in a duel with the lion and killed it. David had his head in the right place inspite of the rejection. How was he able to do it? Simple, intimacy with God! The intimacy he had with God healed him and made him whole. You are going to go through the wilderness; there is no short cut. What you do in the wilderness will determine the foundation of your significance. Nobody can circumvent the wilderness, that is, if you are going to be great. David’s intimacy with God made him whole and left no room for offence in his heart. How do I know David didn’t harbor offence? It is because David allowed them to go tax-free when he killed goliath. Bitterness does not know kindness only revenge. These things are the rocks that destroy the hearts of men. If you will allow the Spirit of God take care of them, you will be amazed at what will happen to your life.

Prayer [song]: Father, I adore You;
Lay my life before You;
How I love You.
