The oil principle simply states that everybody has oil. No one is born empty. The Bible says that a widow of one of the members of the prophets came crying to Elisha for help. Her husband had passed on and left her and her two sons in debt. And a creditor had come threatening to take her sons as slaves. [Please read 2 kings 4:1-7]. You would expect that Elisha will just give her some cash but instead Elisha asked her what she had. The woman could easily have replied, ‘if I had something will I be coming to you?’. Scripture records Jesus some times asking some interesting questions. I wondered, how can a blind man come to Jesus and He was still asking the blind man what he wants. Jesus really – what does he want? But the truth is that the blind man could have asked for money. In which case Jesus would probably have referred him to Judas. Elisha asked the woman what she had in her house. This tells us clearly that the solution is already in our custody. Think about what your challenge is right now, is it financial, is it educational, or is it spiritual? The solution is already in your custody. Someone asked me ‘how can the solution be in my custody; I have always wanted to get married. If the solution were in my custody, I would be married by now’. Let me illustrate: there was this very saucy single lady. One day, she went for a program where she heard the Word of God. The Word of God is very powerful – a double-edged sword. The Word she heard empowered her to change her attitude. Interestingly she came in contact with someone that she was extremely nice to and the person introduced her to his brother. And today they are married. If she had encountered that same person before the change occurred, her attitude would probably have caused the person to block any chances of her marrying his brother. Where was the solution? The solution was in her custody. The first thing you need to do is accept the truth of the Word of God. Everything you need, you already have the seed. The solution is already in your custody.

Prayer: Father, help me prayerfully take responsibility for the required change in my life.
