Perhaps so that she can marry somebody else. That’s my thinking because why else would she want him dead? She didn’t say it but why did she want him to die? Probably because he looked completely hopeless; he was covered in boils and sores. Job was sick and most likely weak so he probably was completely unable to perform the duties of a husband. And being that she was still joined to him, she could not do anything but she wanted to move on with her life. So she said to him, “curse God and die”. “But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish woman. In other words, will a man receive good from God and allow a small challenge to make him curse God? Refuse to be offended. Circumstances will speak to you and tell you why you should be offended but refuse to be offended. For some people, the things that are around them are telling and reminding them why they should be offended. The torn shoes on your legs are saying, “There you are calling on Jesus; you better find another way”. Even your shoe is telling you to curse God and die. The bed you sleep on is saying to you, “What kind of life is this?” Your pillow is breaking your neck instead of supporting it. The rhythm of your jalopy car is saying curse God. Everything wants you to be offended. Even your colleagues are mocking you for how frequently you go to church. Say out loud, “I refuse to be offended. I will remind myself of the things that I’ve heard. I will remind myself of the Word of God and I refuse to be offended because I know my Redeemer lives”.

‘For I tell you this, you will never see me again until you say, ‘Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Matt.23:39. The One means he who comes. In other words, Jesus is saying we won’t see Him except we refuse to be offended. We won’t see Him except we are excited about receiving Him.
