Personalize His praise and worship. When prophetic words go forth, personalize them as though God is speaking to you alone. This is how I relate with God and the things of God and I can tell you without a doubt that it makes a huge difference. Paul admonishes us to look for every opportunity to sing to God from our hearts. Do not just call Him God, call Him my God because that is what God wants.

“The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my keen and firm Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my High Tower” Ps.18:2 [AMP]. These were David’s personalized revelations about God. Even though David was passionate about God’s people Israel but David always personalized his interaction with God. David could have said ‘our Rock’ or ‘the place of our safety’ but David said ‘my’. Learn from David how to relate with God because the Bible describes him as a man after God’s heart. Learn from God who constantly calls us His own. If you think about Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross alone, it is more than enough to drive you into personalizing God. But guess what? Jesus does not stop there; He is constantly interceding for you before the Throne of God. The Bible says God has our names engraved in the palm of His hand. How personal is that? At some point in your Christian walk, you experience God as your Father. When everybody abandons you, your Father does not abandon you. When everyone condemns you, your Father because He is your Father comes to you and holds you. There is no condemnation for us God’s children in Christ Jesus. “But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head” Ps.3:3. The deeper David’s experiences were with God the more personal he gets in praising God and acknowledging God’s personal touch. Who is God to you? Can you say the Lord is my Shepherd, my Rock, and my God? God wants to draw you into a relationship where like David, your communication with Him and of Him will be personalized; where without a shadow of confusion you too can say ‘my God’.

Prayer [song]: Draw me close to You.
