If you live in a place where there is uninterrupted power and free water, the help enjoys all that too. He or she can eat whatever he wants to eat and is free to bath three or five times a day. But the day the help begins to forget his or her place in the home, that is the beginning of the end of his or her time serving in that home. Some men have what is called “daddy’s chair”; it is the most comfortable piece of furniture, with access to all the controls in the living room and strategically positioned for visuals and cooling. Even the mother tries to revere “daddy’s chair” to the children for respect. Imagine the man of the house coming back home and seeing the help, a bottle of soft drink in one hand and remote control in the other hand relaxing in “daddy’s chair”. What will happen to that help? That is the end of his job. But that is how a lot of us behave with God. God has given us all things to freely enjoy but do not forget who it all belongs to.

So you build a hundred houses, own a thousand cars, and have a billion dollars in your account. But the day you leave this earth, you are going solo. I understand that this kind of topic can stir up different emotions in different people. But I want you to understand that I am not trying to make you feel bad, I am trying to prepare you for eternity. I am trying to prepare you to be kings on earth; I am trying to prepare you to rise above materialism. Materialism destroys people’s souls. Whatever comfort or wealth we enjoy belongs to us the same way the garden belongs to Adam and the same way the house belongs to the help. The flip side is the some Christians now think there is a problem with money or with possessions. I know Christians that literally run from money and the reason is they just want to make heaven. That is another extreme that man can tilt to. One of my friends particularly will say to me, it is my responsibility to carry this family to heaven. And it is because he thinks money is the devil’s device to trap him and destroy him. But money is not a trap. Money is a test. Possessions are a test. Everything you own is a test. God has given you a business breakthrough but heaven is waiting and watching to see what you will do. If you understand this, your life becomes easy because you determine to pass the test right? People that fail such tests really don’t know there is a test, so they go on with business as usual.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help me not to sin against You in my thoughts, words, or actions.
