The third thing you need to know about tithing is giving a tithe to something or someone other than God is robbing God<\/em><\/strong>. God said it Himself [Please read Mal.3:8-10<\/a>]. Giving your tithe to a motherless babies home is not tithing. It is a free will giving which you and I should do as Christians because the Lord expects us to take care of the poor. But your tithe is your first ten percent and it goes to God. The fourth thing you need to know about tithing is that God invites us to test His generosity with tithing<\/em><\/strong>. With tithing God says \u201ctest my generosity, test me in this, try me and see if I will not open the windows of Heaven and pour you a blessing that there will not be enough room to contain, test me! [Mal.3:10 paraphrased]. God is saying test my generosity with tithing. Totally amazing!<\/p>\n

A wealthy man comes to my office and tells me about how much wealth he has. One of the properties he owns, a warehouse, and the inventory level is two-billion naira. All the while he was talking and I was listening. Then he said to me, \u201cbut you know what I do not tithe\u201d and my response was \u201creally?\u201d and that was all I said. When he was leaving my office, he said that he noticed that when he mentioned the fact that he does not tithe I did not argue with him. He said he had told the same story to other Pastors and when he mentions the fact that he does not tithe, they open their Bibles and begin to show him how he needs to start tithing and all. He said, \u201cbut you did not argue with me\u201d. I said, \u201cAm I supposed to argue with you? God will teach you how to tithe, that is not my job. God taught me how to tithe and He took me through a painful journey on how to tithe and why I should tithe\u201d. I am not God so why should I fight him over tithing? God can fight for Himself. So I assured him that God would teach him how to tithe. And God is teaching him how to tithe.<\/p>\n

You need to choose where to pay your tithe because everyone will pay tithe. In fact, if you are not paying to God you will pay double because the devil collects way more than ten percent. So tithing is not a matter of choice really, because you are a faithful tither already. The question is where is your tithe going? \u201cBring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,\u201d says the Lord of Heaven\u2019s Armies, \u201cI will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won\u2019t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!<\/em>\u201d Mal.3:10<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Prayer<\/strong>: Holy Spirit, help me never forget the why<\/em> of tithing so that I will not struggle with the how<\/em> of tithing, in Jesus Name.<\/p>\n
