He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.

One of the most misunderstood things in our faith is The Cross. Yet The Cross is one of the most crucial things to our faith. What does The Cross mean to us? Culture has changed how we view and relate with The Cross. Some religious leaders like to wear the crucifix around their necks. I am not saying it is wrong. I am just saying, “do we really know what it means?” Some people wear it plainly for fashion and I am not saying that it is wrong either. Sometimes I see the crucifix dangling on people’s ears. Some others have tattooed the crucifix on their hands and chests.

There is so much more to The Cross but because of such cultural statements, over time, The Cross means nothing anymore. A teenage girl is pestering her mother about getting a tattoo on her arm. When the mother asks why, her response is, “I love Jesus and I want to put a cross on my arm. Mum are you going to tell me not to put Jesus on my arm?” What do you say to a teenager that wants a cross-tattooed on her? Do you say no? What if that is what will revolutionize her life? So the mother took her to pastor for counseling.

The point is this: even the crucifix means’ the one fixed on a cross’. Jesus is no longer on The Cross. So when you have a crucifix that has some form of image of Jesus, that is not Jesus. He is risen, He is alive and well. Man sinned and God sent His Son, Jesus to die for our sins. Jesus came and died for all of our sins and became the criminal that we were. The Cross was the place where the criminal was faced with his crime. Jesus became the criminal. Now, think about all the bad things you have done. Yes, right now; think about them right now. Then put them on The Cross because Jesus died for our sins.

Isa.53:4 “Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down…” This season, every sorrow and every weakness that is weighing you down, you are going to nail it on The Cross, in Jesus Mighty Name. I encourage you to bring a nail with you into your devotion time over the next few weeks as a reminder of the price that has been paid for you.

Prayer [song]: I will praise You Lord, with every breath that I take I will praise You Lord.
