Spoken Word

Again He said to me, Prophesy to these bones and say to them, O you dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Ezekiel 37:4[AMP]

The spoken Word of God is very powerful. Jesus when He was teaching the disciples to pray said to them when you want to pray, ‘say’. You have to make it a point to hear the Word and to say it back to yourself and speak it into every situation. You have to surround yourself with the spoken Word of God, make a conscious effort to ensure that you are constantly hearing the spoken Word until it becomes you. You can be warm by being around the fire place but it is not the same thing as being on fire. ‘…and a sharp two-edged sword came from His mouth. And His face was like the sun in all its brilliance[Rev.1:16 NLT].That sharp two-edged sword is the Word of God. Each time you speak the Word, like Jesus, you have a two-edged sword coming out of your mouth. It is not enough to hear the Word in Church on Sunday, get a personal copy for yourself. Play it back until that word becomes flesh to you, until it is imprinted in your subconscious. You feed your physical body at least once daily and the body takes from what is in your stomach. You spirit man must also be fed so that he can grow based on what is in your stomach spiritually. You are in this world but not of this world so let your Father’s Words shape your responses while you are here. When you are faced with battle, your sword has to be sharp enough to cut through the fiery darts of the enemy. One sure way of being spiritually alert is by constantly soaking yourself in the spoken Word of God. ‘…And His face was like the sun in all its brilliance’. Your face will be like the sun too, shining brighter and brighter as you keep company with the Word of God. God instructed Ezekiel to speak life to the dry bones, and he spoke ‘O you dry bones, hear the word of the Lord’. Ezekiel spoke not his words but God’s Word.

Prayer: Lord, please take me deeper in my quiet time with You. Deepen my understanding and value of Your Word daily.
