Best Foot Forward

‘The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The Lord! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness’ Ex.34:6

It is human nature, when you are asked about yourself, to put your best foot forward. The ‘tell us about yourself’ question is very common at job interviews. When asked, people usually tell you only the good things about themselves. All of us have a part of our lives that we are ashamed of and do not want anyone to know about. It is human nature to put our best foot forward. Sadly, a lot of single people are making marital decisions based on just the best foot forward and are running into serious problems. This is why you need to allow God to lead you plus we should apply the wisdom of our parents in time past. Our parents would investigate the family background of suitors because they never tell you the bad part. Make it a habit to consistently ask God who people are at your first meeting. By the power of the Holy Spirit, you have insight into the hearts and intentions of men. This habit can save you a lot of heart ache. The truth is that man will always present the good part, tell you what you want to hear and the things they want you to remember them by. Same thing with God, He also puts His best foot forward. However, the good thing about God is that He is all together lovely. Even the part that you have not seen is beautiful. ‘God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all’ [1 John 1:5b]. God tells you what He wants you to remember most about Him. Moses asked God this question and God replied, ‘if you do not remember anything about Me, remember this, I am Merciful, gracious, long suffering and abounding in mercy. God is the same yesterday today and forever. God is saying to you who is seeking him, ‘if you do not remember anything about me remember that I am merciful’. You may have strayed far and are wondering if forgiveness is in line for you.

Prayer: I worship You Most Merciful, Forever Gracious, Long Suffering and Loving Father. Thank You for Your goodness and unfailing love to me and my generation
