Foundations of Fasting

‘Then if my people who are called by My Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land’ 2 Chro.7:14

…and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land’. The foundation for fasting and praying is repentance. In other words, God is saying repentance guarantees answers to prayer. It is self-deception to still engage in the way of the world and expect results from God when you fast [read Isaiah 58]. ‘What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with Me’ Isa.58:4. You have been living in sin and because God is not saying anything, you think it is acceptable. Sin is an abomination before God; read your bible. God says’ turn from …wicked ways’. Meaning it is within your power to turn. Repentance is a choice you have to make. What is it that is worth risking your land, finances, family, stability and refuge for? If you regard iniquity in your heart God will not hear your prayers. ‘Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God’ Matt.3:8. If you will repent today, God’s forgiveness is guaranteed. It is amongst the brethren that you will find the most offense. Deal with it and move on. You cannot harbor unforgiveness in your heart, then embark on a forty days fast and expect results. If God loves you, what He will do first is lead you to deal with it so that your prayers can be accepted. You need to repent today. If repentance is not in place then fasting is useless. I have heard people say you do not need to go on your knees to worship God. You can worship God in your heart. Show me how you can kneel down in your heart. It’s the same thing with repentance; there must be a turning away from wicked ways and turning to God. Repentance is the foundation for fasting. That thing that is keeping you away from repenting, what will it matter a hundred years from now?

Thought: Bring the issues before God and truly repent today.

Prayer: ‘Now all glory to God, who is able to keep [me] from falling away and will bring [me] with great joy into His glorious presence without a single fault’ Jude 1:24
