Confronting Yourself
‘Then Elijah called to the people, “Come over here!” They all crowded around him as he repaired the altar of the LORD that had been torn down’ 1kings 18:30
However, before the fire falls there are a couple of things that you must confront. The first thing you must confront is yourself. My grandmother would usually advice that ‘even if you deceive everybody, don’t deceive yourself’ tell yourself the truth. God says the same thing to us in the Word, ‘unto thy self be true’. Ask yourself the tough question, ‘am I in line with God, am I just coming to church or am I really saved?’ The bible says ‘if we judge ourselves, we will not have to be judged’. You need to confront yourself. Face up and deal with the habits that you are neck deep into. Habits you know are not pleasing to God. You need to confront those habits. You cannot call down the fire when you are outside the cover. Otherwise the fire will consume you along with your enemies – God forbid! You cannot be an enemy of God and call on God to arise because when He answers you will not be standing. You need to confront your altar. What is the state of your personal altar with God? ‘Then Elijah called to the people, Come over here! They all crowded around him as he repaired the altar of the LORD that had been torn down. He took twelve stones, one to represent each of the tribes of Israel, and he used the stones to rebuild the altar in the Name of the LORD’ 1kings 18:30-31a. If your personal altar has fallen, then it must be rebuilt before the fire falls. Bring before God in repentance everything that tore down your altar. Then in the Name of the Lord, rebuild your altar with prayer, fasting, sacrifice, the Word, the Spirit, praise and worship. Before the fire falls, first and foremost confront yourself. When something goes wrong, check yourself. If you need to repent, fall on your face before God and ask for mercy. It is possible to be calling for fire and the real problem is you. Everything and everyone that has made a mockery of your God, the fire of God is going to come and consume them all.
Thought: what is the state of your personal altar?
Prayer: Father, I rebuild my personal altar in the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ. I ask for Your mercy Father. Accept once more my body as a living sacrifice pleasing to You, in Jesus Name.
