You Need To Know II
‘Suddenly, there was a sound from Heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting’ Acts 2:2
God does not only bless the people that we do not agree with or bless us in spite of those that do not agree with us, God does the unexpected. God shows up suddenly; He likes to surprise people. I have not met a woman that does not like to be surprised by her husband. God loves to show up when we least expect Him. For many of us, if we think back 10 or 20 years, we will never have imagined that we will be where we are today. The reason why we have survived this long is because God does the unexpected. In fact, God uses the unexpected people and channels to accomplish His design. Understanding that God does the unexpected, helps you to expect Him to do the unexpected. When God shows up in an unexpected way, do not resist it because based on your experiences you don’t think it can be God. God will solve that request you have put before Him in an unexpected way. For example, a father who has been praying for his daughter to get married. Then his daughter shows up with an Igbo man. Instead of thanking God for prayers answered, you are fixated on the fact that he is not Yoruba. It is unexpected, but that is God unboxed right there.
You also need to know that God will do more than you expect. Not only will God do the unexpected, He will also do more than we expect. In fact some people call Him ‘Jehovah Effizy’ – the God of special effects. ‘Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground’ [Exodus 14:16]. Look at the Bible’s account of creation, God likes effects. God did not have to give us taste buds, if food was just to nourish. We could just swallow the food without tasting it. God made sure we can taste and enjoy the different kinds of food while we are being nourished. God did not have to do that. ‘Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them’ Acts 2:3. God will do so much more than you and I can ever hope or imagine.
Prayer: Father, I ask that You will do the unexpected in my life. I also pray that You will exceed all of my expectations in blessings, establishment, and increase, in Jesus Name.
