The Culture Box II
‘So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of His will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding’ Col.1:9
Knowing the will of the Father and doing the will of the Father sets you above cultural limitations. A corrupt culture leads to corrupt thinking. And when your thinking is corrupt you cannot discern God’s will. God wants you to discover His will and operate in it. Discovering God’s will would set you free from a whole lot of things. And if you cannot imbibe His culture through His Word, it will be difficult to discover His will. Until you discover God’s will [for your health, finances, family etc.], you become a puppet in the hands of satan. When you discover God’s will, then you are better positioned.
A certain orphaned boy worked at a farm. His wages were barely able to sustain him and his sister. One day his sister took ill. Every day he watched as her health depreciated because he could not afford the prescribed drugs. With his mind made up to do anything he could to save his sister; he went to work and stole a chicken. He sold the chicken and used the money to buy drugs for her. Unknown to him, his supervisor had been watching him and decided to use this opportunity to exploit him. The supervisor proposed an extended day of labour without pay and before he could protest, the supervisor said ‘remember the chicken’. Every day after that, he slaved for the supervisor. Then he became discontent, because he knew he had done more than was needed to pay for the chicken. So he decided to go to the boss. He fell on his face before the boss and confessed. The boss said, ‘I was also watching when you took the chicken. I have watched the supervisor exploit you. And I have wondered how long you would slave for’. He was forgiven and set free. The next day the supervisor came back but this time his threat had a no effect on the boy because he had discovered the will of the boss. Until you discover God’s will for your salvation and forgiveness, the devil will keep exploiting you. Imbibing the culture of the Kingdom is a personal decision; a decision that will change your life.
Prayer: Father, ‘You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You’ [Isa.26:3]. Keep my mind, soul and spirit fixed on Your Word daily, in Jesus Name.
