Not Denied

‘Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread’ Ps.37:25

One of the biggest things that shapes people’s opinions about God is His response to their expectations. When an expectation is fulfilled, we tend to have good thoughts towards God. When you are trusting God for something and it apparently isn’t happening, you tend to begin to doubt if God really loves you. Or if He will really answer your payers. Most people will not admit it, but the truth is that unfulfilled expectations attempt to influence what we think about God. And when these expectations consistently go unfulfilled, people tend to think that God is not interested. Hence people come up with their own theories about God. And because you are what you think invariably, you begin to live out that plot. It is time to stop, check, and evaluate what you really think about God. ‘Hope deferred makes the heart sick’; this is the practical reality and God acknowledges that. But you cannot allow hope deferred become your defining principle. The reality that hope is deferred does not mean hope is denied. Change your attitude because help is on the way. God is God in the good times and in the bad times. To defer something means to put it off to a later time. The word defer also can be used in relation to someone. It means to submit humbly to a person or a person’s idea usually accepted as superior. Understand that God is in charge inspite of the delay. Nothing can happen to you except God permits it. When you defer to God, you are submitting to His All-Knowingness. You are saying in essence that even though you do not understand what is happening, you trust that God is God. If you look at God and the way that He deals with people, there is no one that hangs unto God and goes ashamed. David puts it perfectly ‘Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread’. You will not rewrite that scripture, your case will not be different. It may appear that things have been differed but those things will still be delivered. ‘The hopes of the godly results in happiness but the expectations of the wicked come to nothing’ Prov.10:28.

Prayer: Lord, I choose to defer completely to You. I know that with You I will never be ashamed. Thank You because You are my assurance of fulfillment in every area of my life, in Jesus Name.
