Instructions
‘Then He said, Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some! So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it’ John 21:6.
Usually, what God will give you concerning any situation you face is an instruction. If there is one thing that is peculiar to instructions, it is the fact that instructions from God need to be obeyed. Many times, instructions from God come to us through the Holy Spirit as suggestions. However, think of it this way, if God suggests that you do things in a certain way, don’t you think it is in your best interest to make that suggestion priority? We know that our God never utters a careless word. People often refer to this world we live in as warfare and not a funfair. It is important as Christians to remember this every day so that we do not treat with kid gloves things that ought to be taken seriously. For instance, someone hands you a seemingly harmless gift. Whereas unknown to you, that gift is a trap. Having the Holy Spirit as your guide is the only way to pull through situations like that. Also the wisdom to take His instructions comes from having an existing fellowship with the Spirit. In today’s world, Christians have to sift through all the noise and distractions to align with the voice of the Father. It is our only saving grace. Peter had been out fishing all night and had caught nothing. If he had been out all night, it is safe to assume that he must have exhausted every trick in the trade. Yet at dawn, Jesus shows up and gives him a fresh direction. Peter could have ignored Jesus, a stranger with no fishing experience. Or Peter could have chosen to obey the voice of God. Thankfully, he did the later, obeyed the very small instruction and got amazing results. God’s instructions do not always make sense or follow logic [Ex. 15:22-25]. Yet, the results are undeniable. When God gives an instruction, He only wants to bless you. Many of us have gotten our ‘simple instruction’ from the Lord but have not obeyed. We prefer to fast, have vigils and pray, rather than obey. Scriptures state that ‘Listen, obedience is better than sacrifice…’ [1 Sam.15:22]. The Bible can be described as a collection of instructions for life eternal. You only get the results when you obey.
Thought: ‘Take hold of my instruction; don’t let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life’ Pro 4:13.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to instinctively obey and follow Your leading, instructions and directions, in Jesus Name.
