The Seal

‘…the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, He identified you as His ownby giving you the Holy Spirit, whom He promised long ago’ Eph.1:13

A seal is figure, symbol, word, letter, etc., used as attestation or evidence of authenticity. Another definition says a seal is the design or emblem itself, belonging exclusively to the user. For a person to carry the seal of God means that the person belongs exclusively to God because he bears God’s mark on his body. It also means that the person carries the evidence of being an authentic child of God. We carry a twofold seal; firstly God sealed His covenant with us through the Blood of Christ Jesus [Heb.13:20]. ‘And He has identified us as His own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything He has promised us’ 2Cor.1:22. The Holy Spirit is God’s guarantee in us. He is our evidence of the fact that God has purchased us. The Holy Spirit is the evidence that we have Christ. ‘…Remember, He has identified you as His own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption’ Eph.4:30. It is the seal that you carry that will determine whether you will be grouped among the chaff or the wheat. The seal you have on you speaks of your worth. Every document that carries the seal of the king is treated with special care. This is the same for us, because we carry the seal of the King of kings. ‘Then locusts came from the smoke and descended on the earth, and they were given power to sting like scorpions. They were told not to harm the grass or plants or trees, but only the people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads’ Rev.9:3-4. Similarly, the Blood of the Lamb is actively speaking on our behalf of a price that has been paid in full. When you operate under the Blood, destruction cannot affect you [Ex.12:12-13; Rev.12:11]. The seal may not be visible to the physical eye but it is unmistakable in the spiritual realm. And it is treated with the same reverence as the One who put His seal on us. ‘Wait! Don’t harm the land or the sea or the trees until we have placed the seal of God on the foreheads of his servants’ Rev.7:3.

Prayer: Father, it is indeed a privilege and an honour to be called Your own. To bear Your mark on my body and carry Your guarantee on the inside of me. Thank You Lord, in Jesus Name.
