Born of God
‘Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight’ Rom.4:7.
Sin is a product of disobedience to God and His commandments. At the root of every sin is disobedience. Man’s main issue till date is disobedience which of course amounts to sin. Disobedience is a major issue with God. Just as the greatest problem of man is disobedience, the greatest solution is obedience. ‘Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous’ Rom.15:19. Disobedience and sin are the first things the cross deals with in every Christian’s life. Everyone that encounters Christ can testify to the fact that the first thing Jesus sorts out is sin. It is a misnomer to say that you have come to the cross, you are saved, and you continue in sin. There is something wrong. The supposed grace notion of ‘sin abounds, grace abounds much more’ is a highway to destruction. Rom.6:1-2a, ‘Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not!’ ‘Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil’. If you are born again, you cannot make a practice of sin. If you make a mistake, and you will make mistakes, scripture says we have an Advocate with the Father, the man Jesus. God is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us. Deliberate sin has consequences. The person that is born of God does not habitually sin. If you can identify this as a trend in your life, regardless of whether you are a pastor, minister, worker, or congregation member you need to come to God anew today. ‘Because whatsoever is born of God sinneth not’ this is present continuous sentence.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to do away with disobedience and habitual sin that has taken residence in my life. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me, in Jesus Name.
