Our Present Help
God replied to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you. Ex. 3:14
God stills every storm to a whisper. The children of Israel had cried out for help for years. Then God sends Moses with a new revelation of His person. ‘If they ask you who has sent you, say to them ‘I AM THAT I AM’ has sent you’. Understand this; God by revealing Himself as ‘I AM’ is saying in essence that He is relevant to the present situation. Sometimes, we are pressured into thinking that the God of miracles existed only in the Old Testament. I am a living testimony of the fact that God’s days of miracles are still with us. God is ‘I AM’; this means if He was I AM yesterday, by the time it is today He will be I AM and you can guarantee that by tomorrow He will be I AM still. We all must have experienced unfulfilled promises, promises made with good intentions and out of love. Promises that become unfulfilled owing to pressures of life and the challenges faced in the course of the day. However, instead of coming clean with the position on the promise, people choose to push with the hope to buy time enough to make good on the promise. You see, God is not like any of such people. Sometimes the experiences that we go through tend to portray God in the image of a tomorrow that never comes. Borrowing someone’s words, God did not say ‘I was that I was’ meaning I used to do miracles. Or ‘I will be that I will be’ meaning I will show up tomorrow. That will be very cheap, and that is not our God. God says, ‘I AM that I AM’; meaning you can depend on me to show up right now. I do not know what your situation is but you must know beyond a shadow of doubt that God will show up now. You can depend on Him now. It is consistent in the scriptures, God is always true. ‘Let every man be a lair and let God be true’. Bring the Word into that contradicting situation and experience the I AM turn it around totally. God is the ever present help in time of trouble.
Prayer [song]: ‘[My] God of faithfulness, without injustice, good and upright is He. God of faithfulness, without injustice, good and upright is He’. Thank You dependable God, in Jesus Name.
