The Cross
‘Abba, Father, He cried out, everything is possible for You. Please take this cup of suffering away from Me. Yet I want Your will to be done, not Mine’ Mark.14:36
There comes a time in every life when our will crosses with the will of the Father. Giving can be a huge sacrifice but it’s the best way to be a blessing and be blessed. Jesus Himself struggled with giving His life and this was the one thing on His mind when He went to Gethsemane to pray. Scripture records that while He prayed that night, His sweat was like blood. He too asked the Father for permission not to give what was required of Him. We all get to the point where God’s will crosses our will. We all get to our own Gethsemane. At times like this you need to ask yourself the tough question. Do I let go of my will for God’s or do I let go of God’s will for mine? There is something that God is demanding of you that is not comfortable for you and if you keep it to yourself, you will remain unfulfilled. But if you go like Jesus to Gethsemane and say ‘Yet I want Your will to be done, not Mine’, then you begin to experience real multiplication. The Father gave the Son. Jesus did not break the chain, He gave His life. Now it’s our turn and Jesus expects us to give our all. We have to be deliberate about not breaking the chain of giving. God asked Abraham to give up the promise he had waited years for. He asked Abraham to give his Isaac and Abraham obeyed; he did not break the chain. For some of us God wants our life and for others it is your time He is asking for. Jesus died so we can live. If Jesus had let go of God’s will for His own, you and I cannot even start to imagine what would have become of us. Don’t stay in condemnation because you have struggled to do God’s will in the past. Jesus struggled too. All you have to do is go to your gethsemane and let the will of God stand. What matters most is not your struggle but that you do God’s will. Find out what God’s will is for you and take deliberate steps to align with the will of the Father. In fact God may be confirming His will to you right now about certain things in your life. Don’t fight it. Let go of self and let God.
Prayer: Father, help me identify Your will for me. Lord, help me submit to Your will just as Jesus did. I pray that Your will alone will stand concerning my life, in Jesus Name.
