Retain Wealth

‘He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ Luke 12:17.

The next step to growing financial roots is to retain wealth. What is the point of generating what you are unable to retain. In fact it is a terrible thing to generate wealth and watch it disappear. God says ‘when you dishonor Me, I will put holes in your bags’. In other words if such a person tries to store money in his bag, he will loose it. If you are in a similar situation where it appears you are storing money but it’s getting lost. Check how you are honoring God. God says that ‘if you pay your tithe, He will rebuke the devourers for your sake’. Meaning there are devourers – things that naturally want to consume your money. God is promising to protect you from them. When you are seeing devourers, check your tithing. I never argue with people who claim not to believe in tithing. When they see devourers they will learn. The truth is that tithing is a personal thing [a relationship thing] between you and God. God taught me how to tithe. I can show you the scars I got when I tried to dribble God. I had a business idea about 14-15years ago. I was serving in the north and the costs of certain things were cheap compared to their prices in Lagos. I decided to buy from the north and bring back to Lagos. And by the time the service year was over, I would be rich especially because the margin was huge. I sold the idea to my eldest brother who bought into it and gave me some cash. I knew in my heart, pay your tithe. I attempted to negotiate with God; I’ll pay my tithe after I have turned over the money about three times. I was on a bus to the south and God said ‘give me one reason why this bus should not have an accident’ and immediately my mind went to Jonah. Miraculously I escaped and I changed my mind afterwards that the accident was a fluke and not God. I got on a private jet back. I got to Lagos, I opened the bag and the money was gone. That day I made a covenant with God with His help. What I am saying in essence is retaining wealth is more important than generating wealth.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, I ask for the grace to follow Your principles for generating and retaining wealth. Help me honor You no matter the circumstance, in Jesus Name
