Swiftness
‘…the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and [wind] happeneth to them all’ Ecc.9:11 [KJV].
The eagle is swift. It flies faster than most birds, if not all birds. It flies as fast as 217km per hour. People who have been in fast moving cars can relate to how fast this is. In fact by the time your car is going 200 -210 you will advise yourself to slow down because your heart cannot take it. Yet the eagle flies 217km p/h, who can catch the eagle? We need to move fast in the things of God especially in the assignments that God has given to us. We need to be passionate and relentless about winning souls for Jesus.
As swift as the eagle is, as fast as the eagle can mount up with wings, there are heights that the eagle can never get to without the assistance of the wind. There are heights that the eagle can never reach until it begins to soar. To soar, the eagle spreads out its wings, locks its bones, and glides on the wind. What this means to you and I is ‘…that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and [wind] happeneth to them all’. The wind blows where it chooses just like chance. So everyone that is doing great, if they would be honest, have learnt to watch out for the wind. So when the wind blows, they just go with it and they soar. Learn from the locust how to wait for and depend on the wind to carry you far. Those who surf do not create the waves. All they do is to watch for the waves and ride the waves. The eagle as fast as it is knows that there is a limit to its strengths. You and I as fast as we can be, yet know that ‘except the Lord builds, they labor in vain those who try’. You have to recognize the wind of the Holy Spirit. Recognize that the Holy Spirit is the wind beneath your wings. That means you need to watch at His door. What is He saying and where is He blowing. This is why as a Christian you can’t just do what every other Christian is doing. Watch for the leading of the Holy Spirit and follow it.
Prayer: Father, I ask for the grace to be sensitive to Your Spirit and to His leading. Holy Spirit please lead me along the paths that glorify God, in Jesus Name.
