Inherited I
‘Instead, everyone will die for their own sin; whoever eats sour grapes—their own teeth will be set on edge’ Jer.31:30 [NIV]
Blessings and curses are not only provoked, they are also inherited. Blessings and curses can be passed down from one generation to another generation. This is why you find situations where a grandfather is cursed and struggles with it, the father struggles with the same thing, and the son finds himself struggling with the same thing. Such curses, this season as we are waiting on God, would be broken in the Name of Jesus. Sometimes we inherit battles we have no business fighting. You just find out that you are fighting a certain battle but you are wondering where it came from. Some people go on an endless search for who they have offended. You do not need to offend anyone; it is simply an inherited battle you are fighting. As a nation for instance, there are battles we have inherited from our leaders and we are fighting those battles today. In my first year in secondary school for instance, my elder brother was in final year. So I was living like a prince. I had two friends, one of them also had his elder brother in final year and the other was the son of a top military man. And everywhere we went we had an air about us because nobody could touch us. Every junior in our set had some kind of punishment they were serving but we were untouchable. Then my brother graduated, my friend’s brother also graduated, and trouble began. I spent my second year in that school fighting battles inherited from my brother. I had no idea my brother had so many enemies. I inherited battles from my friend’s brother and the others father. We were fighting battles we had no business with. I was transferred out of that school so I survived. There are some battles you inherit but I am praying today that this season will not pass you by. Every of such battle you will conclusively deal with in the mighty Name of Jesus. ‘whoever eats sour grapes—their own teeth will be set on edge’. Every battle your fathers fought will end with them. You will live in peace and your children will inherit peace from you in Jesus Name
Prayer: Father, let the Name and the Blood of Jesus silence every tongue that is crying out against me in battle for things my fathers and my father’s fathers have done, in Jesus Name.
