The Provider

‘But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he had denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel’ 1 Tim.5:8 [KJV].

The father is the provider. Fathers provide, that is what we are designed to do. A man that is not providing is malfunctioning, he cannot be happy. A man feels happiest when he is able to provide for his family. There was a time my wife and I needed to do something and naturally she asked me for the money. I did not have the money we needed at the time and it made me feel very bad. On getting to work that day, God blessed me with so much more than we needed. Even though I knew how much money we needed, it delighted my heart to ask her again and tell her I could provide for it. The man feels at his best when he is providing for his family. So to be a man, not provide for your family, and be content with that then something is deeply wrong. Perhaps the man is not well trained but something is definitely wrong. You should not be able to sleep at night. It is that discomfort that actually brings the breakthrough. Sadly there are men who have grown accustomed to not providing. What you need to know today is that you are in bondage and you cannot be free until there is such discomfort within you that even though you are being provided for because you do not have a choice, you are saying to your God ‘I have to break out of this’ and God will break you out. I know that folks go through different patches in life; there was a time that my wife and I did not even know what we were going to eat. We have this principle that we do not borrow from anybody. We did not know what we were going to eat but we held on and God made a way. I know that there are seasons when a man goes through challenging times and that is why you are there as his wife to support him. But every man must understand that God speaks very strongly against not providing for your family. The Bible says the man who does not provide for his family is worse than an infidel [1Tim.5:8] which is a terrible thing. So you should take this scripture to God, which was what I did, and say ‘Lord, You said this Yourself, provide for me’ and God will provide for you.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be prepared for the opportunities You are bringing and bless the works of my hands with abundant harvest, in Jesus Name.
