The Help Mate

‘And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him’ Gen.2:18

Yesterday we said that some men pass through seasons in their lives where they are unable to function as providers for their family. It is the responsibility of every wife to understand how hard this is for her husband and support him through that season. Support, encourage, and pray for your husband because he will come out of that season in Jesus Name. There is no one that stays in God’s Favourite House that will remain poor. I say this with all humility and the integrity of God in my heart. I have made a covenant with God upon this house so it is impossible to remain poor. Except you are totally disobedient then you will find your way out eventually anyway. God has given you your wife as a helper but the responsibility to provide for the home still rests on you. You see every woman no matter how powerful and how financially buoyant still wants to be provided for. And as her husband this is your God given responsibility. Very early in my career as a pastor, I was counseling a very wealthy woman. God kind of raises very wealthy women in God’s Favourite House and there are a lot everywhere by His grace alone. And she was sharing her frustrations with me. I did not understand it at the time but she said that even though she can afford it, she still wants a man that would buy her ice cream. At the time I said ‘you can buy a carton of ice cream if you want’. But now I understand that every woman still craves that protection, that covering, that attention and it is only the fathers that can give it. So I am praying that God will empower our fathers with provision in the mighty name of Jesus. On the other hand I met a woman who said that even though she was suffering with her husband, she prefers it because she knows him that as soon as he can afford to provide he will start carrying women. This is very sad. God has not blessed you with provision for you to behave like a rascal. Yet not all men are like that and I am praying that your husband won’t be like that and God will bless him. Remember as the provider you are accountable to God.

Prayer: Father, may I never forget that no man can have except it is given to him from heaven. Help me to stay small in my own eyes, in Jesus Name.
