Voice Of Obedience

‘But his officers tried to reason with him and said, “Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something very difficult, wouldn’t you have done it? So you should certainly obey him when he says simply, ‘Go and wash and be cured!’ 2 kings 5:13.

The fourth voice Naaman experienced was the voice of obedience. The only voice that came from within Naaman was the voice of logic. All the other voices came from without. Be careful who you surround yourself with. Naaman’s officers helped him see reason with the instruction of the prophet. What counsel are you receiving from those around you? Are they helping you follow God’s path into the fulfillment of your destiny? Or are they confusing you and causing you to stray away from God? “Sir, if the prophet had told you to do something very difficult, wouldn’t you have done it? So you should certainly obey him when he says simply, ‘Go and wash and be cured!’ In other words, Naaman’s officers were pointing him back to the instruction, back to the spoken Word that would activate his healing. Many times the spoken Word that brings about breakthrough is so simple that people miss it. The officers were asking Naaman why he was struggling with the word the prophet had spoken. Why are you struggling with the simplicity of God’s ways of forgiveness, salvation, healing, deliverance, or worship? I am praying that God will place voices of obedience in your life. We all need voices of obedience. God has actually placed a couple of voices of reason towards obedience in my life. I can tell you of countless times when I wanted to move in a particular direction and one of those voices will suggest a different path to me. When things play out like that I recline and listen because I know the voice of obedience and so I obey. And every time God has saved me from a major move in the wrong direction. ‘So Naaman went down to the Jordan River and dipped himself seven times, as the man of God had instructed him. And his skin became as healthy as the skin of a young child’s, and he was healed!’ 2 kings 5:14. There are some people in your life, rather than be the voice of obedience they are the voice of confusion. They are just not wise, they may have the right thing to say but they are just prideful. I pray again that God will position voices of obedience in your life.

Prayer: Father, I ask that You position voices of obedience in my life that will save me from moving in the wrong direction by Your grace, in Jesus Name.
